May 2, 2006 - The 1st Philippine National Pool Championship will be the most comprehensive and representative tournament to be ever staged in the country. It is designed as a lead-up event to the 2006 World Pool Championship.

Event will select the following:

  • Two (2) Filipino Players to automatically qualify to join the 2006 World Pool Championships.

  • determine players for the Asian Games in December.

  • determine the 1st BSCP Philippine 9-ball Champion for this event

To achieve a Representative Field, top players from all regions will be invited to participate in the tournament. Tournament will start with a field of sixty-four (64) , twelve (12) of which will be seeded.  Format is double knock-out system, race to nine (9), for  the Eliminations.  In the end, there will be two (2) winners and two (2) losers to comprise the players to play in the semi_finals.

The semi-finals to finals will be a single knockout system, race to 11. Event will be covered live in both Cable and Free TV.

A total of Php2.06 million in prize money will be paid out to the winners in the tournament. Break down is as follows:

Since this is the 1st time this event will be held, formulae for determining the fifty-two (52) and twelve (12) seeded players is still being finalized. Entry fee is set to Five Thousand Pesos (Php5,000).

The event will be covered live in both cable and free TV for a total of twelve (12) hrs for both media.
